A LoRa chip becomes an SDR experiment: LR2021 raw I/Q
Experimental raw-sample access opens another use for LR2021, with useful lessons about radio processing and host bandwidth.

What is new?
A 20 October CNX Software report highlights LR2021-SDR. The author’s README describes an undocumented command that exposes raw I/Q data from LR2021 for software receivers on an ESP32-P4 host.
Why raw samples matter
Editorial perspective: moving from decoded packets to samples changes what software can investigate. For embedded learners, the useful lesson is the relationship between signal processing, data movement and real-time resource limits.
An experiment, with boundaries
The project reports reception from 100 MHz to 2.74 GHz on one board. That is neither guaranteed vendor coverage nor a calibrated sensitivity measurement. Higher sample rates encounter host-transfer limits.
LCENJ has not tested the hardware. Reproduction depends on ROM version, radio front end and measurement conditions; reception or transmission must also follow applicable rules.
